November 2, 2013 was an special evening for the Photographic Resource Center and the New England photography community. The PRC celebrated its annual Benefit Gala in the lobby of the Boston University Trustee Ballroom. The PRC presented a lifetime achievement award to Boston native exceptional photographer Marie Cosindas for her pioneering work in color and Polaroid photography. The award was presented by Tom Wolfe, acclaimed american writer and journalist and one of America’s leading cultural critics, subject of Marie’s early portrait work, and the author of the essay to Marie’s book, Color Photographs, published in 1978 by New York Graphic Society, Boston. An exclusive live auction featured the work of contemporary photographers like Larry Fink, Abelardo Morell, Henry Horenstein, Peter Vanderwarker, Neal Rantoul, Nick Nixon, Kenro Izu, Elliott Erwitt and many more leading figures in contemporary American photography.
