Can I just start off by saying that I LOVE this family? Seriously, we are so blessed to know them and I feel lucky I was able to photograph this session for them. Like me, my sweet friend is from Mexico and she and her husband have been in our lives since they were pregnant with their second child. Now look at them all! It’s been amazing to watch them grow up. We decided it was time for more family portraits here in Boston since all of the kids are growing up so quickly. We even got to include their dog, Theo, in the photos this year. So much fun!!
It was a busy day photographing this beautiful family! Not only did I photograph their family photos but I also photographed their daughter’s senior portraits. Neither her mom or I can believe she’ll be going to college next year! How is that possible? Of course her mom is super emotional about it, but I know everything will be okay because her little girl is amazing! We wound up with a lovely day with gorgeous light to photograph their portraits. I love how they turned out!! Of course, they chose a super fun color scheme for this time of year. My friend’s dress is from Anthropologie and it was just the PERFECT inspiration for everyone’s outfits!
Picking Outfits for Your Family Portraits
I love finding something from every session that I can turn into a nice little tip for other clients. The thing that definitely stood out in this session was their perfect outfits! Choosing outfits for your session doesn’t have to be hard. I suggest choosing the colors you want to go with first. In this case, everything coordinated with my friend’s fun, colorful dress. This family didn’t shy away from mixing colors – and they look great together! Don’t feel like your outfits have to perfectly match for them to look great. A little color can go a long way. Make your outfits really pop by layering sweaters and buttons up, or fun pieces of jewelry or other accessories. Think about where we will have your photos and aim for colors and outfits that won’t blend in. For example, dark greens may have blended in too much with the trees here. Take a look through some of my other family sessions for more inspiration!
